Employee of McFarlane Sheet MetalPre Apprentice
This entry level position gives an applicant the chance to see if they have an interest in the sheet metal field. The pre apprentice position exposes the new person to a variety of different tasks. If a mutual interest exists between the employee and the company. The pre-apprentice is promoted to the apprentice ship program after 6-12 months.

Sheet Metal Apprentice
This is a four year training position. The apprentice works along side a skilled journeyman sheet metal mechanic and learns the various aspects of sheet metal installation and fabrication. Approximately 200 hours per year of classroom training is provided at no cost to the apprentice. Pay increases are programmed for every 6 months as the apprentice progresses through the program. After successful completion of the four year program, the apprentice becomes a journeyman sheet metal mechanic.

CADD Computer Aided Design and Drafting
This position requires a complete knowledge of AUTO CAD and sheet metal HVAC layout, field measurements and the design elements of HVAC systems.

Sheet Metal Journeyman
These positions handle the installation and fabrication of sheet metal components for the HVAC and food processing industry. Successful applicants have a through understanding of the equipment, machinery and safety aspects of the trade. They also need to have the practical and technical knowledge of the trade required for the completion of a quality project.

Job Site Supervisors
These positions are responsible for the overall successful completion of the complete project. Journeyman, Apprentices, and pre-apprentices report to this position. This position requires a complete knowledge of the project requirements including scheduling, knowledge of plan and specifications, and the ability to work with the owner, other trades and local building officials.

Welders
These positions require people with the skills and ability to weld stainless steel, mild steel, galvanized metal and aluminum in thicknesses from 3/8” to 20 gauges. MIG, TIG, Stick and other welding process are used on a routine basis.

Test / Balance Technicians
These positions require technicians that have a thorough understanding of commercial HVAC system operations, HVAC equipment operation and control strategies. Knowledge of computers and understanding and use of all TAB related equipment is required.

TAB Technicians make adjustments to aspects of HVAC equipment to bring airflows, hydronic flows, and make control systems operate as required by the design or building occupancy.

Successful candidates in this field are self motivated, are good oral and written communicators and are comfortable interacting with building owners, occupants, engineers and maintenance personnel. Typical TAB projects have durations between two days and several months.

HVAC Service Technicians
These positions require mechanics with a through understanding of commercial HVAC system operations, equipment, controls and control strategies. Knowledge of computers and the understanding and use of all refrigeration and related service equipment is required. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC equipment, installing refrigeration piping on smaller 5-20 ton systems and working with HVAC controls.

Project Managers / Estimators
EmploymentThese management level positions are responsible for the pricing, bidding and overall project management to insure that projects are completed on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the owner. Project managers are responsible for the implementation of necessary improvement strategies to improve the business operation.

Project Engineer
This position is responsible for the design of total mechanical systems that include HVAC, plumbing and control strategies. We also implement industry specific heat recovery or industrial ventilation systems. A mechanical engineering degree or related practical experience is required.
